Salsa Borealis – for the love of salsa
Salsa Borealis – Pääkaupunkiseudun salsan ystävät ry or as we speak Sabor was founded 29.01.2004. Sabor was founded to promote the hobby of salsa in the Helsinki area, as well as to inspire enthusiasts to connect the salsa communities throughout the country. Finland has great and active group of salsa lovers and Sabor makes its own contribution by offering enjoyable events and effective communication.
Our colourful events have gathered Salsa lovers together for years. For example the summer Oopperasalsat have grown in popularity year by year. Sabor events are much liked and the stories of the past years’ events live and continue to be transferred to our fresh members.
Sabor is also determined to familiarise new enthusiasts with Latin dances. We offer very affordable (and for our members totally free of charge) salsa lessons every week at Alppila Latin Dance Social (in 2016 the location is Sturenkatu 6). Sometimes there are also lessons for advanced dancers and occasionally a demonstration class for other types of dances such as kizomba and bachata.
Feel free to join our Facebook-group and you will get latest info about our events!
Why the name ‘Salsa Borealis’? Borealis means northern, as in aurora borealis – northern lights. Sabor means flavour in Spanish. As we see it, salsa is a lifestyle, filled with enjoyment and rich of flavour.
You are most welcome to join us – As our hastag puts it: #bailaconsabor!
